Hello, my wife and I have been getting involved with this national support group which has been very effective in our support. I am actually a cancer survivor (so far) and this group helped keep my wife sane through the toughest period last year. I am just beyond your young-adult range (at 46) but we have really developed a heart for parents with children and dealing with chronic illness. (We have a number of children, with two being in elementary age or below.) The WellSpouse group is specifically targeted at support for the partners (of whatever sort) of chronically ill people — an often overlooked casualty of cancer, ms, etc. Please consider this as a link. We can provide more information (especially my spouse at jill@emmelhainz.net).

Our foundation, Cameron Siemers Foundation for Hope offers Life Grants to Young Adult survivors of life threatening illnesses. We are trying to get the word out to young adults that may benefit from such a grant. If you think this may be a relevant link to add to your website, that would be wonderful. Thank you. Hello! What does OMG stand for? Please reply. Thanks!

  6. woodd00 Says:

    Hi Linda.

Well, in popular culture OMG stands for “Oh My God” and is commonly used as short hand in instant and text messages to express shock or surprise. In our case we are using it to mean either “Oh My God” or “Oh My Goodness” depending on your particular leaning. Either way you use it we intend it to stress the fact that we finally have a conference specifically for young adult cancer survivors. It’s all about us and our special needs so we figured why not keep it young, like us. We are an under represented survivor group and we’re not going to take it any more. We are here and we plan on taking things into our own hands to help improve our care, lives, and survivorship rates even if no one else does.

    Hope that helps!

    Dan
